Tonight's Night of Disney Favorites Presented by the IMPS Chorus was absolutely magical! Congratulations to the chorus and to Choral Director, Ed Williams on a fantastic show.

Senior Mock Interviews

Dear English 12 Students and Parents:

Iron Mountain High School has the unique graduation requirements of creating a resume, participating in a mock interview, as well as writing a follow-up thank you note.
In conjunction with our commitment to preparing students for future employment, we have been
fortunate to secure several businessmen and businesswomen who specialize in interviewing
prospective employees. These businessmen/women will volunteer their time to give senior students a mock interview. In addition, Mr. Celello has included this assignment in his English 12 classes so that students will receive credit for the experience. On Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, students will be
participating in a mock interview at Bay College where students will be evaluated on their
performance. Students will also be attending breakout sessions pertaining to life after high school.

Students have been given copies of materials designed to assist them with their resumes and upcoming mock interviews. Many lessons have been and will be taught in English 12 to create a “perfect” resume and prepare our students for their interviews. Students are also expected to dress professionally, which has been discussed in class. We encourage you to review your student’s resume and assist them in dressing professionally—your help is greatly appreciated. Students who are not in an English 12 class this year must pick up the following handouts from Mr. Celello and show up for their mock interview scheduled time.

· Tips on interviewing
· An interview report form on which students will be evaluated

Students will need to write a perfect resume, complete a mock interview at Bay College, complete the assignment, and compose a follow-up thank you note using proper business format. Failure to do so will result in a zero on this part of the assignment.

If a student is unable to participate in your mock interview on May 8th, they will be expected to contact Mr. Jerry Sardina, Superintendent of the Iron Mountain Public Schools, and arrange a time for their make-up interview. Mr. Sardina may be reached at 779-2600. This “make-up” interview needs to happen prior to May 8th, with all the “make-up” paperwork submitted to Mr. Celello by May 8th.

Failure to meet these deadlines would, unfortunately, result in a zero for this assignment. If a student is absent on May 8th, please follow the same instructions—you will have until May 15th to complete your “make-up” interview.

We are very excited about this opportunity and are convinced it will be very beneficial to students
when they find themselves in future interviews.

First National Bank & Trust meets with IMHS students

Thank you to First National Bank & Trust for visiting with Mrs. Pietrantonio’s Civics classes today! Matthew Lutz, CPA, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Mindey Fayas, Branch Manager at First National Bank & Trust, spoke with the Iron Mountain High School students about the ins and outs of personal banking.

The pair, including Iron Mountain alum Lutz (Class of ‘03), taught the importance of balancing a checkbook, taking precautions to avoid fraudulent activity on accounts, and ways to raise (and lower) credit scores. Real world examples were given to help the students fully grasp the topics and Matthew and Mindey did a wonderful job explaining and engaging with the students.

Please help us in thanking First National Bank & Trust for their continued support in educating our high school students about finances and budgeting!

IMPS Drama Presents: "When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors"

Well done to the actors and crew that made last night and todays' shows a huge success!

Iron Mountain Public Schools Drama performed “When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors”, a short comedy written by Jason Pizzarello and Ian McWeth and directed by IMPS Drama advisor, Linda Carpenter in the Iron Mountain High School Auditorium on Friday and Saturday. There is an additonal performance tonight, Saturday April 13 at 7 PM.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online, $10.00 for adults or $7.00 for students. Tickets are available for pre purchase at https://mountaineerdrama.ludus.com/index.php

“When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors” is a simple one-act production of The Wizard of Oz gets derailed by missed cues, forgotten lines, and a renegade sound board op who refuses to play anything but dinosaur noises. A comedy that proves, when it comes to live theater, everything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and it sure to be hilarious!
IMPS Drama consists of 17 Iron Mountain students from grades 6 to 12, and hosts a production every semester.

National Honor Society Induction rescheduled

Iron Mountain High School welcomes Steve Flaminio, Boys and Girls Varsity Golf coach.

Flaminio is a Mountaineer from the Class of 1980. He played football, basketball, and track during his time at IMHS. He was the 1979 Class C. U.P. Champion in the 400-meter dash and a member of the 1980 track team, which finished runner up in the UP Finals. In addition to his impressive high school resume, he also coached his youngest daughter’s 10U basketball team to the Michigan State AAU title!

Though Coach Flaminio is new to coaching high school golf, he is a golf fanatic. He is “really looking forward to coaching the golfers here at Iron Mountain. Golf is a game you can play your entire life and I want to make sure the game is fun for our student athletes.”

Steve is married to his wife of Mary Ann, who is also an 1980 IMHS graduate and they have three daughters, one living in Minnesota and the two others living in lower Michigan.
The Mountaineers will start off their season on April 22 at Pine Grove Country Club at the Iron Mountain Invite.

Senior Athletic Awards to be held May 19

The Iron Mountain Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Iron Mountain Athletic Booster Club, would like to inform you of our annual athletic awards night. We encourage family and friends to attend the 2023-24 Senior Athletic Awards night on Sunday, May 19 at 6:00 in the IMHS Gymnasium.

The IMHS Athletic Department, with donations from the Athletic Booster Club, would like to take this opportunity to honor our senior athletes, distribute Most Valuable Senior Awards, present the Pat Izzo Award, and also hand out the Izzo-Mariucci Scholarship.

A banquet will be served to senior athletes only prior to the Awards ceremony in the Izzo-Mariucci Commons beginning at 5:00 PM. Senior athletes, please RSVP by calling 906-779-2600 or by emailing cavalieris@imschools.org before Friday, May 3, 2024.

Rescheduled NHS Induction

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are rescheduling the National Honor Society Induction, previously scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday April 11. Multiple families have not yet received their acceptance letters via the United States Postal Service and for this inconvenience, we are sorry.
