The 5th grade, Middle School, Jazz, and High School Bands lead by Director Mr. Craig Recla put on a phenomenal performance Friday night in the IMHS Auditorium. Congratulations seniors on a wonderful last show and to the following seniors who were honored with awards tonight- Emily Copley, National Marching Band Award Hailey Greenleaf, John Philip Sousa Band Award Carter Kassin, Louis Armstrong Jazz Award Thank you to all that attended, and to the IM Music Booster Club! Senior and Families,
Graduation is fast approaching and I would like to take this opportunity to remind students about the necessity of appropriate behavior so as to not impact your ability to participate in the graduation ceremony. This serves as a reminder that any Senior who participates in a senior prank that results in school destruction and cost of time will be passed onto the student(s) and families and could potentially impact the student's ability to walk at graduation. Additionally, if the prank is of more serious nature it will be turned over to the local police department. Diplomas will not be held but a student participating in the ceremony is a privilege and can be removed as a result of behavior. Graduation is intended to be an exciting and happy time. Please do not compromise that by making a bad decision. Furthermore, students are required to wear their cap and gowns, additional decoration, aside from chords, etc is not permitted and the student will be asked to remove it. If a student chooses to decorate their cap they may do so but they will be approved prior to the start of the ceremony by school personnel. If a student's cap has inappropriate language, pictures, context the cap will not be approved and a standard replacement will be given. Graduation practice will be May 24th at 1:15 PM at Mountaineer Stadium. In the event that the location is changed due to weather, which will be called prior to Friday then the location will be at the Izzo Gym. Please note as of right now we are planning for the STADIUM. Sincerely, Mrs. Ryan 5-12th Principal Iron Mountain School District Check out this new set of fish and wildlife books for the North Elementary School library donated by the family and in honor of a Mountaineer we lost too soon, Gabe Richtig. What a beautiful tribute to honor Gabe! The staff and students at Iron Mountain thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Richtig family. We will always remember Gabe. *Warning- photos of preserved organs* Thank you to Cristal Rivas from Gift of Life Michigan for visiting with our classes at Iron Mountain High School today to speak about the gift of organ and tissue donation. During the interactive presentation, students were given the opportunity to examine real organ and tissue specimens as well as learn about transplantable organs, common illnesses that cause organ failure, and what it means to sign up as an organ donor so our students can make an informed decision regarding organ donation.
Tonight's Night of Disney Favorites Presented by the IMPS Chorus was absolutely magical! Congratulations to the chorus and to Choral Director, Ed Williams on a fantastic show.

Special credit to Coy VandenAvond for the video play list coordinating, and to Elllie Pineda for the video and lighting controls. Thank you and great job to MC, Kaye Miziniak, and to videographer/photographer Maryssa Gussert! Dear English 12 Students and Parents:
Iron Mountain High School has the unique graduation requirements of creating a resume, participating in a mock interview, as well as writing a follow-up thank you note. In conjunction with our commitment to preparing students for future employment, we have been fortunate to secure several businessmen and businesswomen who specialize in interviewing prospective employees. These businessmen/women will volunteer their time to give senior students a mock interview. In addition, Mr. Celello has included this assignment in his English 12 classes so that students will receive credit for the experience. On Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, students will be participating in a mock interview at Bay College where students will be evaluated on their performance. Students will also be attending breakout sessions pertaining to life after high school. Students have been given copies of materials designed to assist them with their resumes and upcoming mock interviews. Many lessons have been and will be taught in English 12 to create a “perfect” resume and prepare our students for their interviews. Students are also expected to dress professionally, which has been discussed in class. We encourage you to review your student’s resume and assist them in dressing professionally—your help is greatly appreciated. Students who are not in an English 12 class this year must pick up the following handouts from Mr. Celello and show up for their mock interview scheduled time. · Resume examples · Thank you note assignment · Tips on interviewing · An interview report form on which students will be evaluated Students will need to write a perfect resume, complete a mock interview at Bay College, complete the assignment, and compose a follow-up thank you note using proper business format. Failure to do so will result in a zero on this part of the assignment. If a student is unable to participate in your mock interview on May 8th, they will be expected to contact Mr. Jerry Sardina, Superintendent of the Iron Mountain Public Schools, and arrange a time for their make-up interview. Mr. Sardina may be reached at 779-2600. This “make-up” interview needs to happen prior to May 8th, with all the “make-up” paperwork submitted to Mr. Celello by May 8th. Failure to meet these deadlines would, unfortunately, result in a zero for this assignment. If a student is absent on May 8th, please follow the same instructions—you will have until May 15th to complete your “make-up” interview. We are very excited about this opportunity and are convinced it will be very beneficial to students when they find themselves in future interviews. Sincerely, Marcus Celello and Amy Pietrantonio Iron Mountain High School Congratulations to the 2024 Iron Mountain High School Senior Prom King and Queen, Jackson Lundholm and Emily Copley and to the Junior Prom King and Queen, Evan Copley and Cali Picucci! Last year's King and Queen, Geno Schinderle and Jaedyn Simonetti and Prince Dietrick Jaska and Princess Gabriella Howe crowned this year's royalty. Thank you to First National Bank & Trust for visiting with Mrs. Pietrantonio’s Civics classes today! Matthew Lutz, CPA, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and Mindey Fayas, Branch Manager at First National Bank & Trust, spoke with the Iron Mountain High School students about the ins and outs of personal banking. The pair, including Iron Mountain alum Lutz (Class of ‘03), taught the importance of balancing a checkbook, taking precautions to avoid fraudulent activity on accounts, and ways to raise (and lower) credit scores. Real world examples were given to help the students fully grasp the topics and Matthew and Mindey did a wonderful job explaining and engaging with the students. Please help us in thanking First National Bank & Trust for their continued support in educating our high school students about finances and budgeting! Well done to the actors and crew that made last night and todays' shows a huge success!
