Iron Mountain High School has the unique graduation requirements of creating a resume, participating in a mock interview, as well as writing a follow-up thank you note.
In conjunction with our commitment to preparing students for future employment, we have been fortunate to secure several businessmen and businesswomen who specialize in interviewing prospective employees. These businessmen/women will volunteer their time to give senior students a mock interview. In addition, Mr. Celello has included this assignment in his English 12 classes so that students will receive credit for the experience. On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, students will be participating in a mock interview at Iron Mountain High School where students will be evaluated on their performance. Students will also be attending breakout sessions pertaining to life after high school.
Students will be given copies of materials designed to assist them with their resume and upcoming mock interview. Many lessons will be taught in English 12 to create a resume and prepare our students for their interviews. Students who are not in an English 12 class this year must pick up the following handouts from Mr. Celello and show up for their mock interview scheduled time.
· Resume examples
· Thank you note assignment
· Tips on interviewing
· An interview report form on which students will be evaluated
Students will need to write a perfect resume, complete a mock interview at IMHS, complete the assignment, and compose a follow-up thank you note using proper business format.
If you are unable to participate in your mock interview on April 12 th , you will be expected to contact Mr. Jerry Sardina, Superintendent of the Iron Mountain Public Schools, and arrange a time for your make-up interview. Mr. Sardina may be reached at 779-2600. This “make-up” interview needs to happen prior to April 12 th , with all the “make-up” paperwork submitted to Mr. Celello by April 12 th . Failure to meet these deadlines would, unfortunately, result in a zero for this assignment. If you are absent on April 12th, please follow the same instructions—you will have until April 19th to complete your “make-up” interview.
We are very excited about this opportunity and are convinced it will be very beneficial to you when you find yourself in future interviews. We are certain this will be a valuable learning tool for all of you!
Sincerely,
Marcus Celello and Amy Pietrantonio
