Ellison is also the recipient of the highly competitive James A. and Verle A. Klungness, ‘50 Scholarship, a four-year, full tuition scholarship award at Albion College. She has proven herself both in the classroom and as a student-athlete, being honored with awards including All-Conference in multiple sports, Academic All-State, and maintaining honor roll status for four years of high school. She plans on majoring in Pre-Law.
Ellison is highly involved in clubs and service organizations within Iron Mountain High School including National Honor Society, Tri-Hi-Y, be nice. Group, and is the Vice-President of Key Club. She represents her school as the Student Council President and as Varsity Club President. She also is a CCD/Religious Education teacher and enjoys volunteering in the community.
Ellison is an excellent athlete, who excelled in basketball, volleyball, and softball during her time at Iron Mountain. She has led her Varsity Softball team as team captain for two years, played travel softball for four years with “906 Fast Pitch”, and had been involved with Little League for years before. She received an honorable mention as a freshman and was named to the Softball All-Conference second-team as a junior. Ellison currently pitches for the Mountaineers, but has played multiple positions including 1st, 3rd, and outfield.
Ellison’s parent’s Jeff and Shannon Powell, and younger brothers James, Joseph, and Jacob attended the signing celebration. Iron Mountain Public School Superintendent and Athletic Director, Jerry Sardina and IMHS Varsity Softball coaches, Bruce Tapio, Denise Tapio, and Jeanne Newberry were also in attendance.
