Evan will bring talent to the Muskie team, as he is a three time All-State wrestler, a NUWAY All-American three-time State Placer, and a one-time runner-up. Evan has wrestled on the Mountaineer Varsity team for four years and has been wrestling for fourteen. Evan also plays baseball for the Mountaineers. Evan wrestled his youth career for Norway Youth Wrestling and Upper-Level Wrestling.
Evan said several schools had interest in Evan attending, including the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Davenport University, UW Lacrosse, and UW-Concordia.
Evan’s mother, Brenda Bal of Powers, father and Evan's youth wrestling coach, Tracy Haferkorn of Norway, and brother Alec Haferkorn attended the signing celebration, along with Iron Mountain Varsity Wrestling Coach, Cory McLaren. Iron Mountain Superintendent/Athletic Director, Jerry Sardina and Iron Mountain High School Principal, Amy Galvan and multiple friends and teammates were also in attendance.
