All systems are a go for Dickinson County's K-8 Robotics Spring Showcase. Students from all over the UP will converge on Iron Mountain and Kingsford next Saturday, May 12 to show their understanding of teamwork, STEM outreach, engineering principles, and Gracious Professionalism.
This event was originally to be hosted in Iron Mountain, but FIRST in Michigan would prefer that the gyms hosting the event to be contained in the same building for safety and student issues. Kingsford has graciously stepped up and agreed to hold the event in the Blue Gym. A formal agenda will follow for anyone interested in checking the events out.
We have a few openings for volunteers. All roles require little or no training, but will be a great learning experience. Volunteers receive lunch and a Tshirt. We have event positions that can last as little as an hour or for the length of the event (4 hours) depending on what type of commitment you are looking for. We can also take any students over 14 as volunteers.
If you are unable to volunteer, please still consider stopping by Kingsford High School on May 12 where opening ceremonies begin at 10 am.
Lastly, if you know of a K-8 student that didn't get involved in Robotics this year, we ask that you bring them to be adopted onto a team for this no-pressure, fun event. Help us reach EVERY STUDENT IN DICKINSON COUNTY.
I am happy to answer any questions you have about this event by phone or email. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Amanda Gibbons
