9/19/16 - Monday Night Seminar at Bay West

9/12/2016

Please join us for our first Monday Night Seminar for parents to discuss selections from "the best that has been thought and said”.  Discussion elements will be drawn from the new Dual Enrollment Curriculum at Iron Mountain High School.

Beginning Monday, September 19th at 7:00 p.m., our Monday Night Seminar will be in Bay West's room 232. The seminar will be held every Monday night--at the same time and same place--with selections drawn from each week's curriculum (you can have the Dual Enrollment experience too!).

Mr. Jeremie Solak, Dean of the Dual Enrollment Program, will facilitate the Monday Night Seminars.

FEATURES
During the Seminar, attendees will build their own Dream Plan
Attendees will read and discuss excerpts from:
  • Plato's Apology (which contains Socrates' famous maxim: "the unexamined life is not worth living”)
  • Aesop's Fables
  • J. R. R. Tolkien
  • Aristotle's principles relevant to all persons desiring to persuade others of the value and importance of what is good
    • From ENGL 101: Rhetoric and Composition--the Bay College course taught at Iron Mountain High School
  • G. K. Chesterton
    • "If you do not have mirth then you will have madness.”
  • The Greek Historian Herodotus
    • "If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to discuss transformational ideas in community--please join us.

Monday Night Seminars (7-8:30 p.m) at Bay West in room 232.
Plan to come each week or drop in when you can!

For questions, please email Jeremie Solak at solakj@imschools.org.
We look forward to seeing you!
