Department Description

IMHS students can take classes in Accounting (I and II), Accounting Cooperative, Business Law. Upon completion of these courses, students will understand how to make wise financial decisions, have skills/knowledge for studying accounting in college, and be exposed to a realistic computerized accounting system.

 
Class Number: 120 Credits: 1 Required:

This course is for students who have a variety of career objectives. For example: 1) accounting knowledge and skills needed for beginning careers, 2) accounting knowledge and skills needed for careers in related business fields, 3) accounting knowledge and skills to serve as a foundation on which to continue to study at the college level.  One of the most important decisions people make is how to earn a living. Individuals use accounting information to make personal financial decisions about to earn a living and how to use their personal income. Many young people choose accounting to help prepare for a career.

 
Class Number: 134 Credits: 1 Required: Accounting 1

This course is designed to aid the student in acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and the basis upon which to make owner/management decisions. The materials in this course are directed  toward the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for an accounting position following high school. These materials provide advanced preparation for the study of accounting in high school. The computerized section of the course has been designed to provide a realistic, computerized approach to solving advanced accounting applications.

 
Class Number:160 Credits: 1 per semester Required: Accounting 1, Accounting 2

Students may be enrolled in Accounting 2 and Accounting Co-Op concurrently. This course will provide a very worthwhile experience to the student that cannot be provided in school. Upon completion of the course, the student will have gained experience that will be an invaluable asset as far as future work in the industry, or in advanced studies in college.

 
Class Number:131 Credits: .50 Required:

This course is for any student who is interested about the law and how it functions in criminal and civil actions. The course will cover criminal law, civil law, as well as many everyday situations that call for a reasonable understanding of the law. It is intended only to make the student aware of impending legal difficulties and when one should consult legal advice.
