STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The purpose of the Iron Mountain Public Schools Student Assistance Program is to enable students to develop sound, healthy lives. This program identifies students experiencing health, emotional, academic, or behavioral problems. Teachers, counselors and other professionals within the school assist in providing support for students (and family) by directing them to qualified sources of help.

The Student Assistance Program of Iron Mountain Schools provides a means to help students with behaviors that may interfere v@th their academic and social growth. It is the philosophy of this program that each student's needs are unique and anyone may need some assistance from time to time.

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Central Elementary & Middle School houses three computer centers. The elementary computer center is located on the second floor. It has 26 permanent multimedia desktop computers and an projector. This lab also has a color networked printer and a networked laser printer.  Another computer center is located in the 6th grade pod which is used as a drop in center for Central classroom teachers. Each grade level (K-5) has its own multimedia presentation setup for classroom use.  This setup includes a 27" TV, VCR, TV/PC Converter and a multimedia computer.

Both labs are running under the same server on a Novell network. All the labs in the district are tied together and have Direct-Connect Internet access for students and staff. There are several software titles available for use which covers most of the curriculum. In addition, Central has several CD's for use on the multimedia computers.

Iron Mountain Public Schools has a Computer/Internet policy which covers rules, consequences, and other information regarding the computer technology program. ALL STUDENTS are required to sign and return this policy before network and Internet access is provided to them. A copy of this policy can be obtained from the office or computer lab.
