Attendance Policy

ABSENCE & TARDINESS

• A. A Parent or Guardian will report all absences by a telephone call to the Principal's Office by 9:00 a.m. (12:30 p.m. for afternoon kindergarten) on the day of absence.
• B. The Parent or Guardian shall call each day of consecutive absences.
• C. In the event that no phone call is received from a parent or guardian by 9:00 a.m., a call shall be made from the Principal's Office to the home, inquiring as to the student's whereabouts.
• D. If no phone contact is made, a note from the student's parent or guardian is required to be brought to the office explaining the reason for absence with parent or guardian's signature.

This procedure has been adopted in the spirit of parental concern for the safety and well-being of the students once they leave the home for the school day. In the event that a student left home, presumably for school, and did not arrive there, the time lapse before the home and school became aware of this could be most important. If we can become aware and act immediately in just one case of impending danger or delinquency, the effort by the school and the parents to follow this procedure will be well worth it. Waiting for a note the following day gives disaster too much of a head start.
